Observatory Closed Friday 24 August

Following a most successful series of presentations at MBO throughout last week for Science Week, the heavy rain and increased traffic of cars has unfortunately made a mess of the driveway and grassed parking area around the observatory. Reluctantly, the MBO Committee has decided to close the observatory down for this Friday night’s Members’ Night, in order to give the grounds an opportunity to recover. We hope this rest will be sufficient and that we will be open again for the following week. We apologise for this interruption to the MBO program.

Members Night Friday 27th July

Following on from last Friday’s talk, this week our President - Perry Vlahos, will give Part 2 of his illustrated presentation entitled “Observing the Solar System”. If you don’t know where to find the planets, how Venus can be both the Morning and Evening Star, why Saturn’s rings disappear every fourteen years, when to best observe the gas giants and what you should expect to see, then make sure you don’t miss this talk. As usual, it will be followed by supper and observing through the telescopes. See you there!
Members’ Nights at Mt Burnett Observatory are held every Friday night commencing at 8pm.

Friday Night Observing Sessions

Starting on Friday the 3rd of February we will be holding regular members nights. Stay tuned for further details. Please note we are taking a break for the Australia Day weekend (and to recover from the fabulous opening night).
