8pm this coming Friday 7th September we have Perry Vlahos with his monthly round up of the nights sky for the coming month.
There's still four bright planets in the September sky, but what else is going on? This Friday night, Perry will take us on an odyssey into the northern sky as we leave winter behind and head into the less frigid nights of early spring. We'll uncover a hidden smoke ring, a coat hanger, a flight of ducks and two stars more colourful than Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie! However, that's not all, this month also sees the Vernal Equinox take centre stage, but do you actually know what that means and how it comes about? Make your way up to Mt Burnett Observatory this Friday night to find out in an always entertaining presentation, where inexperienced astronomers will get simple explanations and no muscles will be strained in your brain!
Members' Night is on every Friday night. Guests of members are always welcome. Contributions of food to share for supper are always gratefully received and demolished! :-)
Please consider the neighbours and drive in and out quietly using low beam only, or better still, parking lights.
Please note: MBO will always be closed on days of Severe, Extreme and Code Red fire ratings, please see the CFA website for up-to-date information.
