8pm on Friday 1st June 2018 we have our own Perry Vlahos giving his monthly round up of the events to be aware of in the nights sky.
Winter is coming! Yes, just like the iconic phrase in the GOT fantasy series, it's about to happen for real right here on Mount Burnett. But it's not all doom, gloom, clouds and rain - there's also some fantastic sights in the sky that are only seen at their best during this season and Perry Vlahos will tell us about them this Friday night. He'll also tell us how and why the winter solstice occurs and what it really means, apart from getting your lantern ready to shine. Finally, he'll explain how the moon can be used to find and identify some of the most interesting objects in the sky. He'll also answer any questions from the floor, but don't ask why your sundial doesn't work now that you placed it under the shade of that large tree!
Members' Night is on every Friday night commencing at 8PM sharp (doors open 7:30PM). Guests of members are always welcome. Contributions of food to share for supper are always gratefully received and demolished! :-)
Please consider the neighbours and drive in and out quietly using low beam only, or better still, parking lights.
Please note: MBO will always be closed on days of Severe, Extreme and Code Red fire ratings, please see the CFA website for up-to-date information.
