8pm Friday 15th December we have our own Perry Vlahos to speak to us about the December sky.
December is the astronomical equivalent of 'Nirvana'! The nights, are warm and inviting, the clouds have disappeared and the eastern sky is full of the most prominent stars and constellations. This is the time to be looking up at the sky with many incredible things to see, and this Friday night Perry Vlahos will take us on a journey through them all. You'll learn how to find spectacular clusters, huge supergiants, enormous nebulae and far away galaxies - all visible to the naked eye from Mt Burnett Observatory. But wait, there's more...there's a meteor shower and a supermoon all on the way, plus much, much more. Don't miss this always entertaining and fully illustrated talk. Following the presentation there's a delicious supper and (weather permitting) we'll go outside to see all of the aforementioned through the telescopes of MBO. See you there!
Members' Night is on every Friday night commencing at 8PM sharp (doors open 7:30PM). Guests are always welcome.
Please consider the neighbours and drive in and out quietly using low beam only, or better still, parking lights.
Please note: MBO will always be closed on days of Severe, Extreme and Code Red fire ratings, please see the CFA website for up-to-date information.
