8pm Friday 4th August we have Perry Vlahos's "Sky for the Month" presentation!
As we head out of winter and head toward spring, this Friday night we have Perry Vlahos giving us a tour through the skies of August. There's a number of top draw celestial events visible from planet earth during this month. However, don't believe everything you read on the internet or see in the press and media. Many of these reports have not been filtered through the eyes of somebody who knows how they pan out for observers in the southern hemisphere. Sure, there is a total eclipse of the sun this month. Yes, there is an excellent meteor shower as well, plus three planets. But what can we see of these splendid events from our neck of the woods? Come along Friday night to find out as Perry not only answers these questions but also shows us
other sights worth pursuing at this time of year in his always entertaining and enlightening "Sky for the Month" presentation. Starts at 8pm and he promises no brains will be harmed during his talk - all will be easy to digest. There's a delicious supper that follows the talk and we then go outside and look at all that Perry has recommended as worthy sights, through the MBO telescopes. A night not to be missed. See you there.
Members' Night is on every Friday night commencing at 8PM sharp (doors open 7:30PM). Guests are always welcome.
Please consider the neighbours and drive in and out quietly using low beam only, or better still, parking lights.
Please note: MBO will always be closed on days of Severe, Extreme and Code Red fire ratings, please see the CFA website for up-to-date information.
