8pm Friday 28th April we have Dr Andrew Prentice talking on his "Laplacian Theory of the Solar System":
During the past 40 years Dr Prentice has developed a radical new theory of how our solar system was formed. He has based his ‘Modern Laplacian Theory’ of the Solar system origin on the nebula hypothesis first proposed by the French mathematician Pierre S. de Laplace in 1796. With his former Oxford mentor Dr Dirk ter Haar, Dr Prentice proposed in 1973 that the physical phenomenon of supersonic turbulence might be the mechanism by which the primitive Sun cast off a concentric family of orbiting gas rings from which the planetary system condensed. Although the theory is still regarded as being controversial, he has gained worldwide prominence through the success of many key predictions that have been based on the theory.
